Portfolio return for September 2006

My portfolio gained 0.64% in September. This pales in comparison to the 1.75% achieved by the benchmark funds. The reason for this under-performance is due to my higher allocation to international equities, which takes up approximately half of my equity allocation.

As we can see from the graph below, the U.S. markets outperformed international markets this month. In addition, another detractor from performance is the allocation to Precious metals and mining equity. This asset class lost about 5% this month, pulling down my portfolio returns.

Note: There were dividend distributions from VTSAX and VGSIX in September. So, their returns are actually higher than that reflected in the figure.
