Vanguard changing fee structure
Vanguard’s fee structure has always been criticized to be confusing overly complicated (see my related post HERE). Today, Vanguard announced a new fee structure that is simpler to understand and easier to waive. The new fee structure is a $20-fee per fund holding per year if the fund balance is less than $10,000.
There are three ways to waive this fee:
- Sign up for account access on Vanguard.comĀ® and choose electronic delivery of shareholder materials, including statements, confirmations, fund reports, and prospectuses.
- Consolidate your accounts or invest additional assets to bring all account balances in all funds to $10,000 or more.
- Maintain total Vanguard mutual fund assets of $100,000 or more.
In my opinion, the above is much easier to satisfy, especially using the first waiver. Now if only VBS would also revise their fees to be more competitive…
